Medicare Yearly Enrollment begins Oct. 15

Oct 5, 2016

AMERICAN INSURANCE reminds area seniors to take note of the Medicare Open Enrollment Period from Oct. 15 to Dec. 7. This is when everyone who has Medicare – not only seniors – can change to different Medicare Advantage or Part D (Prescription Drug Plans).

We have local certified agents to help Idaho and Washington residents choose between plans available in our region.

“We are ready to help area seniors by explaining each of the options and the differences between them,” said Mike Everett, agent at AMERICAN INSURANCE. “Our agents compare many companies to find plans that work best for each individual client or family to meet their specific health care and prescription needs.”

During this Annual Enrollment Period, you can:

  • Change from Original Medicare to a Medicare Advantage Plan
  • Change from a Medicare Advantage Plan back to Original Medicare
  • Switch from one Medicare Advantage Plan to another similar plan
  • Switch from a Medicare Advantage Plan that doesn’t offer drug coverage to one that offers this coverage
  • Join a Medicare Prescription Drug Plan
  • Switch from one Medicare Prescription Drug Plan to another similar plan
  • Drop your Medicare prescription drug coverage completely

For seniors already enrolled in a Medicare option, the enrollment period ensures that their changes will take effect on Jan. 1, 2017.
